Deep Wing Depressor "Down rigger" for Mag

Re: Deep Wing Depressor "Down rigger" for Mag

Scubadude showed me a neat trick where he filled a short section of garden hose with lead shot and duck taped it to the mag cable to add weight and get the towfish down.

mad4wrecks is absolutely on target (a Pun). We successfully employed that method on a Barringer and an Aquascan over twenty years ago.

Here is picure of the JW Fishers depressor wing. There is also one out there called Z-wing 500 that is used for fishing, but I have never seen how sturdy it really is. DinkyDick has made a pretty beefy one that he has used. I have got a picture of it somewhere, maybe he will post it if he gets a chance.

The lead shot in a hose method helps, you can use a weight mid cable, secure dive weights inside or outside a fish, depressors, longer cables, slowing down, lots of things. Towing speed is the biggest single factor that kills fish depth. JW Fishers rope covered cables don't help matters.

What depth are you in, how much cable have you got, and what are you trying to locate?
