I need some help IDing this round decorative disk that I found at a place where some buildings once were near a river.
The disk seems to be copper with intricate markings on both sides. One side had a small pot metal piece that was attached, but came off when I dug it up. The pot metal part has 5 depressions that looks like it may have had jewels in it. The main disk looks like it might have been gold plated (or else it is just shiny copper that I see).
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I think that might be a decorative rosette - may have had a stone in the middle - not of the horse variety, though.

Size? Button or broach? Monty

Oops, didn't see the ruler. Broach is my guess? Monty

Pretty cool whatever it turns out to be. I was thinking it kinda looks like a bolo slide. HH Charlie

Thanks for the post, everyone.
I think it's too big for a button.
I think it's strange that it would be decorated on both sides if it was to be used where only one side would be seen.
Who knows ?
It's still a cool find and will be in my display case.
