Had a few hours to detect my yard yesterday before the snow hit. 35 degrees with the wind howling but i was getting cabin fever
I found a couple of wheaties,a spoon handle and this brass mystery item. My guess is maybe some sort of bottle topper?
It's brass and the only markings are the raised star on top and "pat's pend"
I have it soaking in water to see if the glass piece may be separated from the ball,I'll post another pic if i can get the glass piece out.
It's hard to date this piece. This is an 1800's homesite but the oldest coins have been early wheaties and i know there has been fill added to the yard over the years.
ANY ideas appreciated! Thanks for havin a look!

Added a photo, after soaking overnight was able to unthread the piece of glass out of the ball. Looks to be a cologne bottle from the size of the hole.
