Decoration? game? piece

Dug this today in Virginia around an old house site dating from late 18th to mid 19th century. Was wondering if this could be some sort of decoration or game piece?? or possible confederate flag?

looks to me like its a mosiac metal tile pattern. not a confederate flag (that would be nice!)

Hut, Judging by the attachment points on the back and the size, it looks like a bolo tie. Neat find Breezie
