Big brown truck just dropped it off! WS4 Package with LCD Remote and 11" coil. Time to throw it on the charger.

Quick question, is the coil supposed to blink a white light when nothing is on? I just noticed the white light blinking when I unpacked it.

Well according to the manual, a charged coil blinks intermittently so I guess that answers my question :)

Good luck and good hunting!

Thanks Deft can't wait to learn this machine.

I hunted along with a Deus the first time a couple weeks ago. New hunting partner - 84 years old. He was a past member here, goes by Meteor Man.

I dig pennies, and he doesn't. I dug $3.50 in 35 pennies in 56 clad coins, he dug $9.00 in clad. Made me wonder about digging pennies, but went out again and dug 30 pennies - I guess I just can't let go!

Anyway, he sure knew his Deus, as you would expect of a man who bought his first detector in '71. I was pretty impressed with him and the Deus.

Thank you Deepseeker and Rusty, I'm looking forward to the weekend!

Good luck jadocs. I recommend using the stock programs awhile to get used to the sounds. Deus fast is a good starting point. Also, recommend getting Andy Sabisch handbook as it lays out all the pre programmed modes settings, explains their effect and is chock full of other nuggets. It is has info that frankly should be in the instructional manual but isn't. Then start tweaking once you get comfortable using the advice of the gurus here and elsewhere. Most of all don't sweat that you won't have it optimized and tweaked to the nth degree from the get go. You can find stuff with the stock programs but eventually evolve to more sophisticated custom programs as you gain a feel and confidence for what the machine is telling you. Finally, relax and just have fun with it. It has taken me a year or so of hunting under various conditions to feel fully comfortable and start producing some great finds with it. But that doesn't mean I haven't had a blast hunting and learning the Deus over the past year. Congrats.

Great advice vferrari...you have reinforced what I have found during my research regarding the stock programs and learning the machine. I did order Andy's book and look forward to receiving it on Friday.

As a side note does anyone know where to get this?

I saw it on eBay but it seems that I missed the opportunity to purchase it and there are no more listed. I purchased a Aryca Wave waterproof phone case for the LCD Remote and thought the larger adapter would be better to secure it.

I just used the cover plate that was covering the mount when it came from the factory. Plenty strong enough. Otherwise, you can order the whole mount (incliding the cover plate) as a replacement part from various Deus dealers which will ultimately be necessary because the mount itself losens up over time with repeated insertions and removals of the control box.

I'm with you DeepseekerADS...I cannot let go of pennies either. Wheat Pennies are like the silver of the copper world IMO....so I like them and go for them. I'll never dig zincs if I can help it though.

Loco-Digger sent me his XP Deus to use and review on Youtube...so far about a week in and 20 hours on it. It is one hell of a machine and you will be damn happy you got it jadocs. Get the book because the manual is very lacking.

Loco-Digger has the Andy book but did not send it to me...he is probably reading it and laughing while I struggle away for hours learning myself! Little does he know I have a copy! :laughing7:

Go to youtube and watch Garys expert training videos on the xp deus. The faster you learn to program it for your type of hunting imo the more you will enjoy it.
I got more out of Garys videos than Andys book but thats just me. I relic hunt and the way Gary hunts with the deus fits my needs perfect. The deus is a capable machine but you MUST learn what each setting does and how effects the machine . You will love this machine if you do your homework and put the time in.

I second CD's advice regarding Garry's videos. It is a little different that Andy's book but the visual of seeing what Garry is doing with the various settings is important and useful. I've used both resources plus a Sabisch in-person boot camp session to really learn my machine. But the best teacher is hours of swinging it. HH.

If you hunt 18khz, 88-97 will grab the copper pennys, the dimes, and quarters. To get nickels open up 61- 64 and dig broken signals will grab most of them while skipping most tabs. Tighten it up to 91 and most pennies get cut too.

Deus can cherry pick coins.
