I got out this week for a few hours after work.
Came up on this point
Then I found a nice round red scraper (see below), walked up then on a broken drill
Not much else happening so I walked over to the creek, it was a junction of two creeks, one small and one larger. It was about ten feet across. Too far to jump but the rock bottom there was only about 6 to 8 inches deep.
I had on my muck boots, so that deep is easy wading.
Walked the ridge. Found a few flakes but not too much but i felt there was very good potential.
Saw what almost appeared to be a leaf, laying flat on the ground among the corn stubble.
Wadda know.
The tip is interesting. Its a little thick but has a very fine nipple like point. The base has what may be a small chip in the base or an intentionally knapped indentation. On blade edge is a 1.5 inch offset bevelled edge.
The blade is 4.5 inches long and 2 3/8 inch at its widest
The blade was the only thing found in that field.
Final Tally:
Total walking time, 2 hours.
Ground conditions: Good - damp, not saturated ground, ground not perfect smooth, but beat down well in field 1, field 2 pretty smooth but fall stubble remained.
Overcast, stormed that evening
There is a lesson here.
