Got out into the field about 11:30, walked 4 hours in the same field. I am getting up there in years. So I took my time.

back in the day I used to ask older fellas at the shows if they still walked the fields and they would give me that look. Now I am that dude and know that look personally. The aches and pains, soreness that goes with age. but a nice hot tub soak after hours walking in the fields feels wonderful.

Anyway I had not looked in this field prior, but the adjacent field some, not found too much. So I felt it had potential and I wanted to take my time for a few reasons. One I was still tired from prior days hunts and working on the farm. Two I did not know when I could get back.

So right off I started funding flake in one location only of the field - so I concentrated my focus there. The flake were decent, but of particular interest were the percussion flakes. I knew these were important over random flaking debitage.

That base is sweet, I will be looking for the blade

nice cross section on the cobbs blade

Interesting in the rear of the blade, does not appear to be a break but intentionally made that manner

Ground conditions where Very good, ground was moist - not wet, sunny which caused a lot of shadows.

It was a good day in the field.

I’d call that a great day! Well done.

Great going! The striped Savannah is a nice one. The one between it and the broken notched base shows the shoulder intentionally removed. I've seen that a lot through the years. All I could figure is that it had something to do with use as a knife to distribute the force against the socketed handle to help prevent digging in and splitting the handle as cutting force was applied against the opposite blade edge. It was a controlled knapping process that didn't happen by accident. Anybody else seen this and given it any thought, or do I just look at my arrowheads too much?

Great finds like the knives and arrow heads a hunt like that will make you feel young again. Well done
