Great find on that silver Ike, I found one today myself! As for cleaning it...I am clueless! Sorry! :icon_sunny:

HH,

$ilver$urfer :hello:

Baking soda and water cleans any kind of silver. Lots of people are against cleaning but I am neutral, if the coin is covered in crap I would clean it with baking soda and water. This cleaning method also removes tarnishes and possibly any finish that might be left on the coin but personally I think some tarnished coins look nice.

if it is really, really, severely tarnished line the bottom of a pot with alum foil

boil the water, remove from heat

add 1 cup baking soda and drop the dirty coin onto the foil, you may have to repeat a few times if it is really bad, but it will liberate most of the sulfate build up, you'll still need to polish it up after that.

somebody posted the recipe a while back, I tried it on some junk (since I am a chemical engineer it sounded interesting) and it worked more or less, but like I said you still need to follow up with some elbow grease like its Christmas time and mom has you polishing the sterling.

Happy Cleaning,
Bigheed
