Hi all,
Well Gary and I ended our year right. We got to hunt Dec. 31, 2007 for our last hunt of the year.
We thought we would get to hunt New Years day, but it snowed like heck.

I'm posting pictures of some of our finds for December.

Gary found a lot of good finds including IH penny's, dating from 1884 through 1906, Wheat penny's from 1917-1958, a Barber dime 1911, Rosy's and Mercury dimes and a 1944 Silver Quarter. He also found a really nice Arrowhead, that he dug out of a hole with a coin in it. His finds also included a Tomahawk knife, a gold ring, silver cross, silver clarinet, Ohio token, Good Luck Token and a St. Christopher.

I didn't find that much at the end of December, but came away with a lot of Wheat penny's and 2 Barber dimes, 1893 & 1899, a couple of V-nickels 1888 & 1903, I also came up with a Kennedy Half Dollar. I also dug up a thimble.

On my lat day of hunting, 12/31/07 I dug up a Mason Jar, got a signal from the lid at around 4-6 inches, dug down and struck what sounded like glass and it was. It took me awhile to dig it out, because I left my Army shovel back at home. Could have used an axe, because the jar was in between a lot of roots.

Hope you all ended your year with some great finds.

Wish you all a Very Happy New Year and may all your finds be some of your best yet.

HH, Ringfinder

Lots of good finds there. I like finding those mason jars. But just once I'd like to find one full of coins!

Yea, know what you mean, mine was half full of either water or mountain dew, LOL, I didn't taste it.

Very Nice Assortment of finds Ringfinder.
I like them all.
One thing, I have never seen an old Canadian One Cent piece like that.
What year is that coin?
Thanks for sharing such great pictures, that old school looks like you guys could find more there.

Nice hunt and a variety of finds! HH, Mike

Denny,
Great finds for December. Do you and Gary still hunt mostly together? Nate and I got out just before the snow hit also. This is a good time to hunt if the weather cooperates.

Your V Nickel looks sweet as the other coins do too.

Bob

Great looking arrowhead and coins! :)

You guys have some great finds there. That arrowhead is a real bonus and the clarinet is too cool.Lotsa nice coins as well.

Great finds! Glad you guys got out before the snow hit. I'm waiting to the snow to melt now; if it does I'm outa here! Too bad that mason jar wasn't full of Merc's!. Keep digging.

You got that right on the jar being full of Merc's. I was looking real hard, but all it had in it was some kind of wet stuff, darn it. My partner said it might have been moonshine. LOL

The Arrowhead was a great find, that is about the third arrowhead we have found this way. Digging a signal, getting a coin and a arrowhead out of the same hole is Priceless. LOL

Hi Bob, yes Gary and I are still hunting together, when ever we get a chance. Hopefully this next week we can hit a site or two. The weather is going to get crazy here in the Great State of Ohio and I know everyone who is worth his salt will be taking advantage of the great weather and go detecting. We try to hunt every month of the year. Sometimes the ground gets a little hard. LOL

Hope you and Nate have some great success this next week.

Not sure how many acres of land was allotted for one room school houses in Indiana, but here in Ohio, the government gave Ohio over 700,000 acres to be used for school houses. These were placed every two miles. Sometimes when you start looking for them, that varies some. Here in NW Ohio you have to take into account the Great Black Swamp.

Hopefully everyone can hunt an old one room school house. They are a lot of fun. Once you have permission from the owner, walk out a square acre of ground at the site. I use field tile flags to help me. If you find a school standing, walk it off, see how many steps it takes to walk north and south, east and west. For me it is about 70 steps in each direction.

Good Luck!

Funny you should remark about that coin. Mirage found one this past week and has a picture of it posted here on Treasure.net, my coin is dated 1932 and I think Mirage's is 1933. They are neat finds, I call them Canada's wheat penny.

HH to all and thanks for your replies, Ringfinder
