DAY 1
I went to the K to 8 school and did some wandering around in spots I haven’t gridded yet hoping to find some good spots. I found some things, but the good spot I was looking for eluded me. I spent 5 hours swingin the CZ21 and found 53 coins with a face value of $2.31, a frame, 2 wheaties, a cheapie ring, part of a hair clip, an arrow point, a really dead watch, a dragon pendant, a toy truck, aluminum wire, aluminum bottle caps, can slaw, 5 tabs, 3 pencil ends and some whole aluminum cans.
The frame is chromed brass with a screw hole in each corner. It looks like it went around a switch or plug of some kind. It looks familiar, but I can’t place it. Please let me know if you recognize it.
The arrow point is a deadly piece of equipment lost by some bow hunter. I looked it up and it is a Rage Chisel Tip X SC 3-Blade Crossbow Broadhead and sells for 39.99. It is still in good shape, maybe someone will give me a couple of bucks for it at the yard sale.
DAY 2
I went to a local private school that is K to 12. I have detected a lot of the ground in the past and haven’t been there for about 4 years. I did a walk around and checked the hot spots for new losses and old misses. Lots of quarters, but nothing great. I had someplace to be later so I only had 4 hours to hunt with the CZ21.
I found 70 coins with a face value of $7.01, a gold colored ring, a small padlock, a bicycle seat, a toy car, some balls of aluminum foil (from the hotdogs at the concession stand), aluminum bottle caps, construction aluminum, aluminum fence wire, 1 pencil end and 12 tabs.
The ring is not a finger ring. It was used for some other purpose and you can see the weld point where the ends were joined. It is gold colored, but not gold. The tiny bicycle seat is off of a toy bike. I have found while bikes in the past, but this time I just found the seat.
You can tell it is spring because the tiny flowers are starting to bloom. They are beautiful little things, but they are very small, you have to really pay attention to see them. I put down a dime so you can see just how small they really are.
DAY 3
I went to a tiny park with a very small tot lot, a pavilion and a small field with a square paved track for walking. I detected part of this park several years ago and came back to give it another try. I spent 5 hours swingin the CZ21 and found 67 coins with a face value of $4.02, a brass flag clip, 3 wheaties (1944, 1947D, 1950), an electrical whatzit, a brass whatzit, pieces of copper pipe, the head of a golf club, copper wire, shell casings, a railroad tie plate, a railroad spike (railroad tracks are about 50 feet from the edge of the park and I had to stop several time because the noise from the trains going by made it impossible to hear the detector beeps), can slaw, foil and 10 tab.
The electrical whatzit is marked KEARNEY CORP. ST LOUIS MO 100. I looked it up on line and it is an industrial electrical fuse link. I’m not sure how old it is, but it is a different kind of find.
The brass whatzit is thick brass and tapered like it was inserted into something. I can’t see any marks on it, but it is pretty crusty. I’ll try and clean it up a bit and see if there are any marks to help identify it.
DAY 4
The weather has finally cleared up enough to go back to the scout camp so off I went. I have covered most of camp, but the scouts are always loosing things and tent pegs always need to be recovered so they can be reused. There is always hope that something nice will be lost or I will come across a goodie I missed in the past.
I worked a site I did 2 years ago. I spent 6.5 hours covering about 80% of the site in the more used areas with the CZ21. I found 93 coins with a face value of $10.17, 135 camp tent pegs, 10 sinkers, a 1955 wheatie, a fishing lure, 3 neckerchief slides, a rope tensioner, an aluminum can, some personal size tent pegs, 6 tabs and melted aluminum from the campfires.
I don’t always find slides, but I have found hundreds of them here over the years. Their condition helps me tell about how long they have been lost. The first one was probably lost last season. The second one was probably lost 2 or 3 years ago. The third one was down about 7 inches and has definitely been in the ground a long time. I have probably been over this site 3 or 4 times in the past 12 years and this slide was missed. Nobody gets it all and when you are going around trees, bushes, logs and other object it is easy to miss a spot.
NON DETECTOR FINDS
I found a couple of pennies walking at the mall, but nothing from the coinstars or coin returns.
I am starting a new precious metal slump. No gold or silver again this week, maybe next week will be better. Thanks for looking, stay safe, good luck and may your coil lead you to good things.
