Dead zincs. I've been trying to figure out what to do with mine.
I found this video on you tube showing how to remove the zinc,leaving the copper . Making hollow pennies.
Super easy using muriatic acid,available at any home improvement center or pool supply center. (USE CAUTION! its still acid ). Just soak the pennies . That it.



My idea is to remove the zinc then melt the copper into a ingot.
I will be trying it soon. Any thoughts ?

Zincolns are only 2.5% copper. You're going to need an awful lot of them to make an ingot.
 

Me thinks you will have more money invested in acid than you'll get out of the copper. :dontknow:
 

Regardless of being "dead", just like their copper counterparts it's illegal to recycle them for their metal values.
 

Considering all the jewelry that's been made from coins, I doubt anyone will get arrested for doing so.
 

Making jewelry and melting for scrap are too different things.
 

Damn. That's smart. I'll probably end up doing that with coppers that aren't worth much. Gotta refine the copper though
