We got up early to go before someone else beat us to it :clock: The county fair ended lastnight and today everyone would be pulling out, it was very foggy this morning and wet from a storm that went through lastnight so about 8 am we started detecting, the place was very trashy and of course the wife wanted to get her pepsi and coke caps to, which is probley why i found more then she did today :icon_king: it was a very fun morning with the minelab SE ! And now for the silver :o the wife found the 1942 P nickel with her fisher F2 and said it was down about 2 inches in a place where we have hunted before, dont know how its been missed all these years so she did her happy dance ! she found it on the hillside where they have the truck pulls and the first area we hunted which is seen in the foggy pics ;D After a couple hours we went to the other side where the rides and concession stands was setup and was getting warm and humid by then :icon_sunny: I was finding clad dimes and quarters like never before and was in heaven when i got an 00-24 and bounce to 00-25 close to top of the ground and since the clad quarters comes in at 00-29 i thought maybe a can or some kind of trash and ALMOST didnt look to see what it was, the grass was thick and didnt see anything shiny and started to go on but thought I'd check it out to see what would come in at those numbers and GLAD I DID :o I parted the heavy grass and seen the shine and bent over to see and you could have knocked me over with a feather :o How it got there I dont know as it was just under the grass so I think it hasnt been there very long but I'm glad I took the time to check it out ! HAPPY DANCE ? YOU BET I DID :headbang: My BIG SILVER 1925 PEACE DOLLAR  after a couple more hours of hunting it got very humid and the wife got a headache so about 12 noon I didnt want to stop but the wife was ready to get home out of the heat and humidity , sorry this has been long but its been an awesome day ! thanks for looking and Happy Hunting

Woo Hoo!!! Nice going, Weasel!!

I've heard that some people like to carry silver dollars in their pockets/wallets for good luck. Must have just been dropped during the fair!

A very surprising find, especially since you would expect the bulk of your finds to be surface clad, along with the chance at a piece of dropped jewelry.

CONGRATS!!!

Hey,

That's a suprise !

Nice finds,

Keep @ it and HH!!
yes it was ! thanks MUD(S.W.A.T)

probably some kid stole it from his folks to use at the fair and lost it. Or like ours they have displays of collections (coin) and someone dropped it heading to their car/truck. Surely it hasn't been there long on top of the soil.

Still I send congrats for you for it is an amazing find and I think a much better home

Awesome coins, I remember a game they used to have at fair where you dropped a quarter in a slot and tried to land it on a tray with other coins where a push bar was going back and forth. If you got it to the back of the tray it would push more coins further and they fell out in a another tray where you could get it like a slot machine. They always had some bigger stuff in there like silver dollars and half dollars for prizes. However it ended up on the grass congrats to you and your wife.

thanks Bridge End Farm ! it had to have been dropped during the fair , i think there is no way that thing had been there very long as it was just under the grass not even down in the ground :)

VERY AWESOME!

Do you ask someone for a permit to enter the site at the end of the fair? Sometime, the fair company won't allow you enter the site, because their part of contract with the city hall. When they move out of the site as empty, then you can go there. Sometime, the city closed the gate, then no way to enter....

Superb Recovery on the Silver Dollar. Real nice.
Prob'ly like Bridge said, some kid got into dad's collection then........

Keep safe...

other possibilities for finding a silver dollar at fair besides spending a collection .i have been to some carnivals where the prizes for winning throwing or shooting type games included silver dollars.sometimes the fair has a flea market or craft booths on site .or maybe it dropped off a belt buckle or bolo slide.

Nice find on the silver! Is that W.V. Rose made out of gold? Would be even sweeter for you guys if it were. HH Tom
