Finished the 8 acre sheep field in the dark. 9 man hour effort.

Not much but enough to keep us happy. The main object was met as its off to the Church Field next Saturday. A field we have never touched but waited 5 years to get on, might be nothing but its worth a go.

2 Scrappy Romans brings the total this year (all off this field) to 26.
nearly blank 1670s farthing
Possible Roman Nail

Pleased with the complete 17th century spur buckle. :)
Part of a Roman Ring with stone missing. (Dad found it & thought it a cheap modern ladies ring :D)
The squashed silver button made my heart stop thinking it was a Roman Silver Coin.

Rare - cica 1790s Queens Own IV Dragoons pewter button (needs further research). :)

Job Done.

Congrats Team Crusader ! Loved seeing all the finds made ...felt like I was there which helps with being in the cold frigid upstate Ny and not being able to get out :'(

The Church is situated in one of the poorest parishes in medieval times. So not expecting very much.

watch, when you think your not going to find alot....you will..mark my words..

Nice finds Crusader team, that field has been tough on the finds! HH, Mike

Rare - circa 1790s Queens Own IV Dragoons pewter button (needs further research).

Found the following in Parkyn's (Military) Shoulder-Belt Plates and Buttons:

1788-1818 - The 4th or Queen's Own Dragoons

BUTTONS
"The officer's buttons circa 1800 were silver, flat, with the design engraved of 'IV' surmounted by a crown and with the title 'Queen's Own' below the number."

No details are provided concerning the buttons for enlisted men.
