Well I just got back from the spot. Goio and I tried our luck and came up with more deepies!!! It came at a cost though, at any given time their was 50 flies on each of us, and man were they hungry!!! I never seen anything like it in my life!!!! Today was my second day out with my Minelab Explorer Pro, this is what I found:

1900 IH
1904 IH
1909 Wheatie (Goio's Help)
1910
1918 S
1919
1920 D
1947 D (Goio's Help)

The 1918s & the 1919 were in the same hole, that was cool to find. Below the 1904 IH was that piece of metal that is stamped "950", anybody have any ideas on what it is? I also found a butterfly pendant, but its not gold or silver. But all of my finds (minus the clad quarter) were down 6 inches or more. I also have a pouch full of the usual garbage, (square nails & pull tabs), we were only digging iffy signals though. The 1900 IH is now my oldest coin that I have found, I want to breakinto the 1800's so bad!!! I'm catching on pretty quick, I already love my new Minelab!!!

Good start with the SE!

For biting flies I use Permanone on my clothing (use as directed) and Deets on any exposed skin. You can find both in Wal Mart. If you are in their territory for extended periods you may have to reapply the Deets. I always carry a spray bomb of it with me.

alright man, way 2 go, glad 2 see you posted pics this time!

so does the minelab blow away the ace?

Hey Fiend, nice digs!! That was a great hunt - congrats!

Congrats on your new machine. ;D

How is it switching to the Minelab - is the audio too much to bear? I'm getting tempted......

you can adjust it to be a single tone and run it threw the smart find/screen and the single tone
if you need help ill point you out to someone who can point it out on the minelab owner forum

I still love my Ace for tot-lots, tobogan hills & carnivals where stuff is still relitavely shallow, but I wanted to go deeper. The parks that I have been going to have been hunted hard since detectors were invented. So for depth and trash discrimination, yes its hands down a better machine.

You "guess" you did good???
Are you kidding me??
One indian would make my day!
Way to go.

No, what I mean is that, all of the other Minelab guys that detect there usuially get 3-5 indians, 10+ Wheaties, atleast 1 barber dime, atleast 1 Merc., and on Sat I saw a guy get 2 Barber quartrs and a SLQ. I did great for me, but just good compaired to the rest that I hunt with. I am happy as a pig in (well, you know...)!!!!!

Is that a plain 1909 (Meaning S orD) ?

No, that was the first thing I checked for, its just a plain 1909 not even a V.D.B. on the back.

I am starting out just looking for iffy signals. Its a lot of tones to listen too, but when ever I hear a high tone, I look and see if its jumping side-to-side towards the top of the smartfind screen, and if it is, I check the depth, if its over 6" then I will dig it. Its a whole new world for me, and I know I am missing some coins, but I am just barely starting to learn this beast.

Those flies have been killer this yr here to in the NE. A few times they ran me out of the woods. They eat off for breakfast.

Yea, a few times we were thinking of calling it quits!!!! But we kept finding old coins so we stuck it out.
I never seen anything like it!!! It was like our bug spray was their favorite flavor.

Good diggin' guys! Great pile of wheats, nice...
"their was 50 flies on each of us" I guess that kills th old saying...."Ain't no flies on you"

Keep safe....
