Well, it finally stopped raining so I hit the yard again.? I made some progress in technique both in swingin' and diggin'.? I actually got to a point where my holes were almost completely hidden when I refilled, unlike yesterdays landfill wannabees.? I also experimented with the different preset modes and playing with the sens, disc and notch feature.? Oh, and a probe (long, thin screwdriver with no tip) = really helpful tool.? I was able to dig right on the spot with both the can and the cast iron.
Today's tally: my first coin; a nasty little 1987D penny (most beautiful coin I've ever seen!) an ornate piece; appears to be cast iron possibly off of an old fence top or a fire poker, another matchbox car (I'm going to start my own garage), a screw, a bolt, a flattened can (that one really sounded off!), a marble (in the same hole as some junk), some misc. can/foil junk, the end of a big pencil and I'll be darned if when the MD says it's a pull tab it's a pulltab!? Got three old timers from different spots.? All in all lots of fun.? I also have a new partner, my 9 year old daughter started following me around wanting to fill my holes.? Works for me!
