KKC intended to receive the "A-OK" to hunt the pasture of a tenant farmer, but he was not home when we knocked. We have permission from the owner of the farm to hunt in the cow pasture, which is where an early dwelling was located. We will have to wait until next week it seems. :dontknow:

We decided to head back to last Sunday's pasture site where Kirk got the two Dandy buttons. We named it the "Hick Outpost," mainly because the early settler would have been considered a hick where he built this cabin. :laughing9: Everything we popped from the site last Sunday was late 1700s-early 1800s. Here is a pic of the "Hick Outpost."

Well, I was hunting in the area where some pewter spoon pieces were dug and I got a nice pulltab reading. It turned out to be this Civil War infantry button.

Here it is cleaned up.

Nope. As you saw last weekend, the Outpost didn't produce much of anything. The settler was poor as can be and probably didn't have two coppers to rub together, as evidence of the zero coppers posted by us. :laughing9: Oh well, his neighbor a few miles away probably dropped us some real goodies. We will see next Sunday if the tenant farmer doesn't give us a problem. :dontknow:

Well at least you made the limited signals count. I have had many days that I dug far more but didn't get anything as good. These days all I can do is hope for a lucky military because the numbers aren't what they used to be.

Thank Chris, and the way I see it, I was telling Kyle....other than Gettysburg and some other smaller engagements to the lead up of that battle, PA was virtually without any fighting in the Civil War......mainly only training camps.....So to find a CiviL War button there is Pretty darn good.....having to have come from a soldiers jacket once returning home from war, from a training/drilling camp, or from a fort....but from the description that Kyle gave and the photo, it seems as if the "Ol Hick" ;D ;D probably lost it off his shell jacket once returned from war. Good save Kyle and nice pics once again :icon_thumleft:

Thank you all for the replies! I am looking forward to taking you along with us during our adventures on the Pennsylvania frontier!

Buttons are my second favorite thing to find. Looks like you have one that I have yet to dig :headbang:

I see copper in your future...........

Nice find Kyle, remember...rubbing two coppers together was hard for some to do. I find that peeps were poor round these parts. Sometimes a button is all that gives. I like the button
