We were 4 runs off finishing when it got too dark to see. So will be done tomorrow & then off to another field. I'm in pain but not out for the count.

2 Romans each
I had the rest other than a buckle,1916 penny, musket ball & watch winder. Whats it commemoration token:
http://forum.treasurenet.com/index.php/topic,111507.0.html

I got:
Medieval book clasp
Medieval cauldron foot
Silver T bar for a fob watch
17th century token
W&M Farthing 1690s
1720s Dump farthing
Button
Pistol Shot
Buckle

Luck of the draw. This is typical but the Dad will pop out the extra special item, so keep watching & digging.

I guess every day can't bring in the gold. This is quite an interesting assortment, as usual. I like the tokens you're finding, just because they are something you one might not expect and could never predict. The watch fob piece is interesting. Too bad they didn't lose the whole watch. :D I always love seeing the romans come up--even if they are only bronzes.

Regards,

Buckleboy

Thanks for another great post Crusaders! Nice finds as usual but I know you are running out of field like I often do, LOL. Is that William and Mary the middle coin in the coin picture? Just below those grubby looking Romans, LOL? HH and another nice day out with Dad, Mike

You folks over there are so blessed!

I know you work hard to find these but at least you've got something worth finding.

These kinds of finds are simply outstanding and thanks for sharing the photos and commentary.

Badger P.S. Keep em coming 8)

Thanks for the kind words.

Crusader, you are the best ::) "Prof" went to England as you know. He said that everything has to be registered with the museums or something, do you also have to do this? or what you find is yours?
You must have a museum of your own.

God bless
Peter

I helped out Prof & explained the deal & suggest Colcester (although he had tried to book before without success).

He had to register them with the Museums as he wanted to take the items out of the UK. You need a licence to take out any dug item over 50 years old (technically even buttons).
If they don't want it to leave the country because it is of significant historical interest then they have the chance to give you the market value or it doesn't leave the country (still your property unless Treasure Trove).

I record items which fall within the Treasure Trove Act - that's the Law. I voluntarily record all significant finds with the Portable Antiquities Scheme. I don't record everything, it would take them 5 years to log it, but I do have my own maps & records for future study.

I work with book writers (who picture my finds, already re-written history a few times) / researchers / Local Historians.

I do displays at work & have lent stuff to schools.

I am on the Local Amateur Museum Committee & rotate displays in the Local Museum.

Thanx Crusader, as I said before, you are the best. You make this hobby, to be a hobby to be proud of for the rest of us. I would love one day to meet you in person, and to listen to your stories and see all your finds.

God bless you
Peter
