Howdy. I transplanted to Ohio from Texas about 10 years ago and like it very much. First place I've ever lived with all the seasons. The hunting and fishing are great. I am married w/children, like my hero Al Bundy, but I have only one left under 18, and he is a high school senior. I will need this hobby very soon. I served in both the Marines and the Army, proving that I am indeed a glutton for punishment, and I am now an HVAC service technician.
In the past, I greatly enjoyed collecting stone points, but I haven't found anyone in Ohio (yet) who will let me do that on their property. I also like reading, writing, fishing, hunting, motorcycles, and anything I can do with my family. I love history and just about anything old, and have been interested in metal detecting for years, but never took it past that. My brother recently visited from North Carolina and I was surprised when he mentioned his new interest in metal detecting. Even more surprising, my seventeen year old son wanted to do it, too. So here I am.
I haven't got my machine yet, but sometime after Christmas--probably tax refund time--I'll buy a Garret AT Pro for me, and a 250 or 350 for my son. I have always been interested in old places, and now I find myself marking them in my mind as I drive past so that I might get back there one day and find something long lost. It would be difficult to explain how excited I am about doing this, and waiting to buy my machine will be terrible.
I've been reading a ton of threads and ogling all the amazing finds and I am just fascinated. Lots of helpful info for us beginners, too, and that's nice. I look forward to the day I can share my first significant find.
Best to all--
Dave
