I'm headed to Dauphin Island next week for a vacation with the family. Is it OK to hunt on public beaches in Alabama? I sent an email to the town council, but didn't get a reply. I looked through the town ordinances and didn't see anything related to metal detecting. What's the state law regarding public beaches? I actually won't be on the public beach on the west side of the island at the end of Bienville Blvd(black dot)...I'm bringing my boat and plan on hanging out further west, well past the end of Bienville Blvd, where the only access is by boat, unless you feel like walking a few miles. I don't see this area designated at a state park of any kind, so I think I'm good there. I know pickings might be slim in this area, but that's fine. I'm not interested in clad, and just looking for a relaxing day with the family and maybe one or two solid hits.
Here's where I plan on setting up the beach tent and hanging out(orange square).
Thanks for any input.
