Anyone care to take a crack at dating this button? Also, the manufacturer? The front of the button is blank. Thanks for looking!

Looks like it says - 'Treble Gilt' - should help pbk (I know he needs it)

Yep...Treble Gilt below the shank and a crown above!

That won't miss it by much!

Some sources cite dates as early as 1800, but it can't be much earlier. It's evidently British, and use of the quality mark "Treble Gilt" was authorized and regulated there by the Metal Button Act of 1796.

I'll straddle the fence and just call it early 19th century.
