The company goes back to 1870. From what I see I'd place yours as early, but not earliest (they had smaller pins in some I saw - indicating earlier design).

Certainly much sharpened - maybe 1890 ish?

Thanks. I figured with the two small pins and the two large brass pins right around that date. Not many books on the straight knives for Keen Kutter.

Butcher knife. Multiple potential uses but slicing steaks/chops is one.
The wide end allows a slight tilt to tip a steak away from next cut and being deep in height helps cut straight and even.
Appears to have been a former work horse, or sharpened in an unapologetic manner a lot.
