The guys there are not even able to make you an offer but they ask you, " well, Is not going to be much. How much do you want for the coins?". " The more you sell teh better" I told the guy, " Do I look spupid?". "You are more than capable to give me an offer according to your prices today"
Of course I was not going to sell S@!t to them since I know they steal from people. I just wanted to have fun and I had.

I don't care for their tactics either, but we all know these businesses are in it to make as much moolah as possible. Same for used/new car dealers, or similar business.
Ya know that no one is forcing anyone to walk through their door, be it Joe Schmo or little granny.
I've read of a lot of low-ball offers made on this board over the years as well.

When silver was around the $32 mark. My local shop purchased at 20x face value and sold at 1x under spot. So if it was $2.40 for a dime, they would buy at $2.00 and resell at $2.30. They are good stand up guys there. In fact, I am starting to buy Silver coins etc from friends when they get them and their friends, who find them or want to move jewelery and stuff and I offer them the same exact prices that the coin shop offers.

Your shop is an exception. My point is, that no one is "holding a gun" to force one to sell to a business that may try and take advantage of someone interested in selling.

I understand everyone is out for a profit...if a co worker or a friend had a similar coin,we'd offer the same Xface as these dealers, but if we got a no,we'd pony up a bit more.We coin roll hunt as either collectors looking for a rare coin,or as silver collectors looking for face value. Some lil old ladies may be thrilled to sell at 10x face, just as we'd be buyers at 15x face. The difference is that we know the real value.
As far as buying the jewerly stuff, thats a real shot in the dark...14,18,24k gold has a world of difference in value, then gold plate or filled, hard to value.
IMHO,they are a ripoff, period. However, they do have to pay for the auditorium, advertising, all the extra expenses we never see.Its like on pawn stars, retail and wholesale....gotta leave some meat on the bone for me!

Nope, not all of us would try to ripoff our friends or coworkers the first time.
