Impressive finds . It's amazing how much history we have right here in the Palmetto State isn't it? There was a civil war Battle fought right up the road from where I am and several Revolutionary War Battles fought within 50 miles of here.

SC Shooter You are right, SC is full of History. Rev, Indian and Civil wars all over the state. Thanks for looking.

These same clay pipes can also be found in Scandinavia. Some I found while diving, but most were from a land fill. The harbor was dredged and all the mud, ballast and other stuff was used to build a parking lot. This was an area where the ships dumped their ballast, before taking on cargo. I have searched this area, before the parking lot was built, and found dozens of these pipes, bowls and stems, all broken, and most were the plain type, of which you have one, in the second pic, with very little decoration. I dont know if the crew of the ships smoked alot, or the pipes just didnt last long. I heard that they were from Holland, but maybe they were made in many countries.

Anyway, nice collection you have!!
