Dark Water Scuba Diving for Fossils in Florida

Hello Tnet members!

I got out for some of my favorite kind of treasure hunting the other day, something you all probably do not see or hear much about. I was scuba diving for Pleistocene age terrestrial vertebrates! I found manatee teeth, partial horse teeth, tapir teeth, giant tortoise osteoderms (bony plates that protect the legs), some Eocene shark teeth and a bunch of other cool stuff.

Great Finds! That black water always freaked me out when I lived in Florida, you never know what is looking back at ya.

Yeah, it's definitely a little spooky down there at times. Worst part is when you run into something where the flashlight isn't aimed and you dont know what it is for a second.

I know exactly what you mean. I hate being startled under water. Even when its not something thats dangerous. Its that moment when your heart rate jumps to 4 times its normal rate in less than a second.........I hate it when that happens. Congrats on some great finds !!
