Dandy button found recently. Possible bust facing right? Anyone ever see one like this?

Nice find! Every dandy I have ever found was either blank or maybe a hand etched design, but never a bust. Hard to tell if what you are seeing there is just the random areas where the surface has not flaked off. Either way, congrats and god luck on the ID!

I have no idea on who that would be, and it certainly looks like a portrait of a head right facing.
Then again we all might be having that pareidolia thing going on.

Congrats either way. I haven’t had the pleasure of digging a dandy yet. It sure does look like a bust, just don’t know if it’s a lucky corrosion pattern or what. Didn’t people sometimes turn coins into buttons though? How thick is it, is there a chance someone took a draped bust or some other coin and turned it into your button?

I (seriously) see an angel facing forward, with wings raised partially. She has a flowing, long skirt. For this reason, I vote pareidolia. We each see something different in the clouds. I like the piece though. That is a large example. Good find!

Its just corrosion in my opinion, but it is a Dandy Button.
