Dagger/sword hand guard?

Me again... Wondering if anyone can ID this item... My first thoughts were the hand guard from an old dagger or sword? Thanks guys

Well it looks big enough to be a bracelet. Someone squeezed it.
Is it brass ?

Yes brass... Could be a bracelet.. Seems like its supposed to be that shape though.. Has the feel of it... I'd that makes sense.. Has slight turns to make it like that

Yeap same general type & age, but yours was probably more rounded with the corners.
