Found this badge or button in Spokane park that dates from the turn of the century. It’s about the size of a dime. Any help with identifying and age would be greatly appreciated

Happy New Year
Thanks MackDog

Any possibility that it could be related to Delaware, Lackawanna & Western Railroad from New York? A bit far removed, but maybe?

Well, D.L. & W. was a railroad in western New York from 1851 - 1960. There may be other possibilities.

This is said to be a Delaware, Lackawanna & Western Railroad employee’s lapel button but of undetermined age. Note that the logo is the same and there is also a reference to ‘safety’.

DL&W.webp

They had originally been the Liggetts Gap Railroad Company and then the Lackawanna & Western Railroad Company before changing name to the Delaware, Lackawanna & Western (DL&W) Railroad Company on 11th March 1853. They continued under that name until merging with a competitor to form the Erie Lackawanna Railroad Company on 17th October 1960.
