CZ-3D volume control question..

when I turn on my cz3d and put the volume on 1, the audio output from the speaker seems to be maxed out. I don't notice a difference in volume no matter where the volume dial is. The audio level doesn't seem to fall off as the target gets further from the coil even when I'm not in the boost range. Shouldn't the audio level reduce to barely audible from the internal speaker when the dial is at the furthest counter clockwise position just before the unit turns off? Do I have a faulty potentiometer?

Audio level on mine is low at 1 and high at 10.

thanks ivanll, I'm going to call Fisher tomorrow to get a return authorization so I can send it in for repairs.
