This is a little item I found early last week before I went away. It's been soaking in olive oil until today. I used a silicone coin polishing cloth on it and applied some copper coin care liquid to it and the black gunk that was on it chipped away. I believe it is a Civil War era Store Card. It's the same size as a small cent, except the it's much thinner. On one side it says JOs MC BURNEY, CIGAR BOX MANUFR., MULBERRY ST., ALBANY NY. On the other side it says REDEEMED AT 26 MULBERRY ST., ALBANY NY.

Very very cool. The amazing things I've seen on TNet, it's mindboggling.

Interesting find Bob....never seen one like it before....Nice find and HHoliday's

Great token! It's listed as #NY 10C-1a in U.S. Civil War Store Cards by George & Melvin Fuld. As far as I know, it's the only variety issued by that particular merchant, Jos. McBurney. Rated R3 (fewer than 2,000 known) and valued at $10-15 in F-VF condition.

Thanks guys and thanks for the info, PBK. I'm gonna have to get me a copy of that book.
