CW relics, including Eagle "I" cuff button, 1918 wheat, worn copper and other relics.
Went out on a BEAUTIFUL day of detecting yesterday to the new spot. My cousin Ryan(flyinryan2) tagged along for the first time and we had a fun time digging some relics. He had some luck digging his first shield nickel there, and I dug my first shield nickel there as well on my first trip, both 1867's. Of all coins to dig, 2 shield nickels seems to be the most unlikely! But we got'em anyhow! He also snagged an eagle breast plate, broken in half but pretty darn lucky! I myself dug a nice gilded eagle "I" cuff button about 5 minutes in and on my first hole. The grass had grown tremendously since the last time I was there, it was about 3 and a half feet in some spots, but we were able to work our way through it...there were some low spots from the sheep and cows eating it. Luckily the farmer was in there mowing it all for hay!!! I found about 7 bullets, round ball and a couple dropped and a nice fired williams cleaner, it's fired but it's the nicest looking one I've dug. I later dug a 1918 wheatie in the same field I dug an 1803 draped bust cent a few weeks ago...go figure. lol It was still nice anyway. I dug a blank copper, tombac and that smaller bullet with 2 rings I'm not sure if it's civil war or post civil war. Also dug the "D" shaped sword piece right as we were heading to the truck. Can't wait to get back in after they cut all the grass, I'm sure a bunch more relics and coins will appear! Thanks for looking and HH!
