I’d love to hear thoughts on this site in a known CW area overlooking a creek and Deep Run in Fredericksburg – with all the bricks, stone, slabs, tons of iron, and oldest tree I’ve ever seen, my untrained eye thinks it is something. How does one confirm a good new site (not too picked over) and where to best start when it’d take forever to dig the entire spot? Thanks! If there is tons of iron, it's a house site. CW camps and picket posts will have some iron, but typically not "tons".

The soda bottle and screen door hinge are 20th C (30's - 50's give or take).

If you're just looking for CW relics, start on the high ground and work your way towards the road or towards water.

If you want to dig the house site, start digging iron because it's likely 'masking' the good stuff.

Happy hunting.
