Found in an area where there were some small battles...

Any ideas? Its the size of a silver dollar. Has two holes one on each side of the US

Can u post a pic of the back? Could be a rosette. Is there Lead on the back? Need back pic

Best guess that its from the CW period.

With 2 rivet attachment holes, it would be mounted to a piece of leather...but don't think its a rosette...been wrong before tho...

See those before but can't place its exact use. Its not from a McClellan saddle...looked at mine and not there...

Examine the shape of the letters "US" on it closely. Note that the curves at the bottom of the U and the arms of the S have "flats" on them. Sorry, but that means it is a late-1800s to early-20th-Century rosette, not a civil war one.
