CW finial???

I found this going through all the iron goodies that i have kept and this was in the bottom of the box. I found it early last year some time. I am hoping it's a CW finial, is it?

Is the gunk in the middle leather or rubber, it looks like an old time sink stopper/ plug? HH

its small, the loop is about 1/2" in diameter.

Looks like some sort of rivet with some weird loop attached. Here is a picture of one of the finials I have found. It's the piece at the bottom, 4th from the right. I've dug several, some are round and some come to a point. I think the rebels fashioned some out of lead.

I think i remember finding it in the back "Soy Bean" field so it may be CW related?
