CW field - is it just a hook...?

Went hunting in a field said to have CW camp. Some items have been found on same property at a different location. So in the end....is this simply a hook of some sort? Doesn't have any holes to hang on something so I am thinking something for horses....looks like it may have been bent but wouldn't know that or if it is broken unless I get it soaking but didn't want to waste the time....if its only a hook. Any ideas before I throw this in the junk pile?

That is 1/2 of an item known as a "Lone Star Hook" that hooked into a ratchet block on a horse hame.

Thanks for the info. Are they still used or what time frame would it be from? I am assuming it is a common piece of equipment for farming? Reason why I ask is because I can't even find an example on Google...

I don't know that that style is still in use today, but were popular in the 19-teens time frame. I have a 1918 catalog and can snap you a photo if you would like.
