It was a few weeks since me and my buddy IFoundIt got out there for a day of hunting. After linkin' up at the usual spot, we headed out to a very unusual spot. We had never been hunted in this part of Virginia. First site we hit had nothing to give up, but that didnt slow us down. Me moved on to the next one on the list. After getting permission from the old timer, we headed out. Based on the finds, it didnt take us long to realize we were hunting directly on top of both Federal and Confederate camp sites.
Hope you enjoy the photos.
The broach came up from about a foot down, and was truly a beautiful site to see! Any help on that one would be truly appreciated. Me and IFoundIt are thinking it could be from the nearby colonial home, but who knows for sure. It's hard to see how it cant be related somehow to the CW considering it's location respective to all the CW period items. The emblem on it is either bone or ivory. As I said, any information would be very appreciated. The VA cufflink still has some dirt on it-as you can see. I worry about rushing the cleaning on that one. I like to take my time with stuff like that. The back is perfect and it came from about 5 inches down. I'm sure I could clean the GA off a little more but I'm in no rush. The gilt still shows on that one so I pretty much like it as is. It was the deepest non-ferrous item I dug at about 11-13 inches. There was a scabbard tip next to the GA coat button but it disintegrated as I was recovering. The finial was close to the broken tip. I believe the syringe needle is period. The other 3 buttons appear to be all deteriorated federal general issues. I believe one has a shank but they are all in rough shape.
I was amazed at how well my ATPro performed. A great machine.
I real excited me and IFoundIt have found a solid spot to hunt. I'm lookin forward to hunting with him out there for seasons to come!
