Hi all,
Spring break this week so I was able to get a hunt in Sat. Back to my "log cabin" field site where I dug a seated dime last year. That has been the only coin off this site so far and Sat. was no different. :sad10: But I did add a nice Eagle I button to my collection. It was a lovely day to be out and perfect digging.

Plus a what's it for you to ID. :)

Thanks for looking and HH,

What is it? Flat, rectangular rock that appears man made.
Was thinking a broken sash weight but most I googled were cylindrical. :icon_scratch:

Nice finds Michiganne! Cool looking rock - like you - wonder what it is...

That would be an Infantry Military button. In case you didn't know what the I stood for. Is the rock a grainy material? Might be an abrader for knapping arrowheads.

Yup, I was aware the "I" stood for Infantry. :)

Yes, the rock is rather sparkly, like sandstone. My brother suggested it was some type of whetstone but I thought the rock seemed too porous. :icon_scratch: A Native American artifact was in the back of my mind but I didn't want to get my hopes up.

Abrador/ wetstone almost the same I guess. The flint had to be abraded or edges ground while making an arrowheads. I am new on here so I don't know who knows what I guess. I have many buttons like that and others from detecting out west.

Not my first CW button but appreciate the info. So do you think it could be a N.A. artifact? That would be way cool.
And welcome to the TNet. :hello:

Hey Anne, great finds. I know an Expert on NA stuff down by Richland who would be glad to ID it.

Congrats on the sweet Infantry button :hello2: - looks in nice shape. Love finding the lantern knobs that have dates too! Can't help ya on the rock but that Wheatie sure is a greeny. Good luck hitting that area again!!
