That is a .54 Merrill from the American Civil War, and is a very cool find!

I found the same type of bullet..

This was the first time I found a bullet like this also... mine looks like it was fired, but I didn't show it in the picture. Now I may be crazy, but does it look like there is a J on the bottom of the bullet?
Definitely a cool find though.
