Last year I received permission to hunt a housesite from the 1870's in which I did OK at. This particular site was purchased from a large business with intentions of demolishing the house to make room for parking lots and driveways. After securing permission last year, we pounded this site at every possible angle. Slippery Jack and another friend of mine participated as well. Between the 3 of us, we didn't find any stunning or real old coins but I think we probably pulled about 30 older wheaties, a couple IHP, a few silver and some interesting relics. I drove by this site a week ago and noticed the grass was about 2 feet high. I happened to drive by today and everything was leveled and gone! They must have buried most of this in the cellar hole and then brought in some fill to cover the site. I could make out where the entrance sidewalk was and hunted it first. Picked up a couple more early wheats there and one off to the side of it. I hunted up tight to where the front of the house was where I couldn't hunt before because of shrubs. I found some kind of a keyway that was decorative and then found this hotel room key fob. It says Hatch House on it and the only thing I could find through google was a hotel in Ohio under this name. Can't find anything local so I am not positive the history on it, but I like it anyway. They have a large pile of fill that looks like they will spread over the rest of the site soon. I will keep my eye on the site, but I think it will be under pavement soon. Wish I would have taken pictures before and after. Off to the next site.

All good sites like that one don't last for ever. At least you were able to find some nice keepers.

At least you guys got some good hunting in and got some decent coins....Matt

Well you got some nice finds anyway, pity its gone. Well, really its just a pity that they dropped the fill all over the place, without that (and the house) you could have found much more I believe.

Too bad that these old places are falling like the autumn leaves, including old barns. Modern man has found better things to do with them . Like the hotel FOB and always love them old green wheats

Nice digs there wallhanger.I asked my friend if he was the one that stopped at your booth at the fair,he said yea and that you were the best taxidermist around.Good complement since that's what he does to.

That is a really neat hotel tag. Maybe a baggage tag, or a room key tag. Very cool though!
