It looks like it may be a piece of a trigger guard.

Springfields had steel furniture.

I've never seen a trigger bow spur with three screws. May be a rub guard from a carriage.

Agreed, I know Enfields had brass trigger guards, but the configuration of the found piece doesn't resemble a trigger guard to me. Look at the guard on my P1853 Enfield and you can see our reasoning here.

Are the ends where the end screws go, cut off or broke off? Hopefully you can tell which! I believe that Charlie P. is definitely on the right track.

To me, it almost looks too thin to be a brass trigger guard? :icon_scratch:
Maybe part of the floorboard of an a Model T Ford or some other vehicle?
