I followed up a permission request this past Friday, drove out with my GF and was told by the farmer to have at it. Very pretty property, I gridded off a few spots of it and dug my usual trash and got lucky with these two coins so far. I also pulled three wheats, 1946, 1944, 1942.
The farmer and his wife told me the house was built in 1915 and they are wonderful people. I ran to the door to show them the Cuban coin and Merc and they were laughing with my excitement about how you just never know what your going to find. If anyone knows anything else about the Cuban forty, please let me know. So far I found out there were only 166,000 minted, it is 10 grams of .900 silver, I thought at first two things when I pulled it out of the dirt. One, it was a half then I thought I had a colonial silver. This all took place in a split second, but was very exciting.
Enjoy the pix! HH
