Was hunting in knee deep water at the beach. I found lots of signals that said 12" deep. Not sure if they were false or not. But trying to dig something that deep is tough. When you dig one scoop and the ocean fills it back in. I did find some of the pull tabs but I don't think they were 12" deep. If it says 12" deep is it? Or is the salt water doing something? I'm still learning. Thanks John

Awwww... the joys of beach hunting! lol

Try kicking (clearing) some of the sand out before scooping, that way you will be closer to the target (it won't move) and "the signal will be stronger", and one scoop should nail it but don't linger because it's all about hit and get. Best to get the target on the first scoop, each after, the chances lessen you will get it in the ruff surf. If the target jumps around on you it could be something light, like a pulltab, or canslaw (floaters).

The target I.D. and depth are based on coin sized objects. If it's something else, the reading will be off. It also helps a lot to use a big scoop. Check out the Sunspot Stealth scoops Chances are if you can't get the target in one or two scoops with one of those, it's going to be deep junk.

Working in the water is slow, awkward, destabilizing, frustrating, and sometimes impossible. You just do the best you can.

More frustrating is the sweet (bloop) sound of gold getting sucked out of the hole under your coil to never be heard again!
