CT Copper, LC, Dandy Buttons, and a Silver Button

Hey everyone! Had a pretty successful day at an old farmhouse today. I didn't get there til 2p this afternoon so I only had about 2 hours to hunt before it got dark but I dug a lot of holes in that time! My finds consisted of: a 1787 Connecticut copper, an 1820s largie, 2 dandy buttons, a watch key, 3 flat buttons,2 mercs, 10 wheats, a sterling bracelet and 2 things that I'm not sure about. First thing is the 5th and 6th picture. It looks a little like a small version of an armor scale or something(figured I try it here fort before whats it). Also, wondering if the foil looks silver. ALSO I added pics of two buttons I found the other day. One is a regular dandy and the other is an engraved silver button. Thanks for looking!

Good stuff! Is the engraved one early?
Thanks! Not sure but I don't think its as early as some. It's stamped Leonore Doskow sterling on the back.

yeah I didn't have the sense it was early from the face.

I think your unknown may be off a shoulder scale, something like this.

Great hunt CC! Nice date range on that site. Some nice early stuff and some later items. Nice to be on a site that was occupied for awhile. More treasures for ya

There was a story in an old American Digger magazine where they had dug up Spanish scale armor pieces. Your scale piece looks like that. I will go back and see if it a match.

Very nice Haul! Congrats

Those are some nice recoveries there. The engraved silver button is sweet as are your coppers and other finds. I believe the chain mail looking thing is off a chin strap from a shako hat. Could date as early as the 1820s or as late as this Nazi example. I found a number of them in Antigua many years ago at some of the old British fort and barracks ruins there.

I love the CT copper a LOT and am admittedly very jealous. The silver button could be as old as the early 1930s when Leonore Doskow introduced the alphabet which is the hallmark of the monogram jewelry for which the company is so justly proud and famous. It's a very nice find.

Looks like a good match, and if so I'm guessing it tapered a fair bit and he has an end piece, because it seems pretty wide for a strap.

Yes he probably has a piece that was closer to the ear than the chin. Shoulder epaulets (at least the CW era ones) were wider than his piece.

sweet finds.

Awesome spot and great finds! Love those state coppers and those buttons and watch key are very cool!

Awesome, that looks like an accurate ID if you ask me! Very cool info...thank you very much. Wonder what it was doing out in the field where I found it

Nice finds I always like finding buttons and coins! I found what appears to be the same scale type piece, a couple months ago. If it is part of a chin strap, it would be cool to find the rest.
