Although not found with a metal detector I bought this at a Tag Sale to settle the estate of an old friend. I had seen it before when visiting him and "Had to have it". The family said it was a CSA bayonet made in England but had no proof of it. It measures exactly 25" long and is in exceptional condition. There are makers marks on the blade as well as on the belt loop hook of the scabbard. I have included the best photos I could get of the marks. Does anyone know what the makers marks mean?
Thanks!
Ken

Here is your piece by the same manufacturer... sold with rifle... check it out! It looks like it attached to an Enfield Pattern 1853... But I'm not a gun guy...

The images and text are copyrighted... so I cant tell you more... you'll have to read it! It is british made with multiple Birmingham marks... I'm going to look closer at those for you and see what I can find :)

Thanks to all who have commented on the bayonet, especially Montana Jim & Mrs. O. The date of manufacture is a downer but still it is a nice bayonet. I wonder if the mark on the scabbard 364 mean that is was manufactured in March of 1864? Could be that the scabbard is Civil War era. Thanks again to everyone.
