WOW. What a find !!

You could test it by drawing it over an old piece of window glass.
If it scratches the glass easily, it´s quarz, because quarz is much harder than glass.

I think it was used as an arrow head !!

Super find

THANK YOU SO MUCH.... I tested this on glass and it did indeed scratch it easily. The glass shard did not!!!

Quartz and quartzite were very common materials to make arrowheads, atl-atl points, and knives from. What makes your piece stand out is the clarity of the quartz. Most artifacts made from quartz are milky in color/clarity, once in a great while we find or see one made from clear quartz and they are always so cool to see. That is a very neat little arrowhead you have there.

I've found a few arrow heads and spear points but nothing as neat as that.

Great find!!

Welcome to TNET. You may get some better answers here-http://forum.treasurenet.com/index.php/board,89.0.html , not to say that downindixie's response isn't a good one, it's just that there are several experts on that forum. :)

But you think my answer is bad, huh ??

How offending !! >:(

I wouldn't recommend it, and if that constitutes "bad" then so be it. Geesh, some people. ::) ::) ::)

VERY INTERISTING, there is a museum in port alberni bc. they have a local dig on display and they have many tiny quartz microblades, same typy of crystle you have . its common to find these crystles but would be very hard to work them inti blades and arrowheads.

Learn something new each day...

I am not questioning the find, so please excuse my ignorant question, however, I was not aware that there are areas in California where arrowheads can be found...what regions of the state are heads found?

Growing up in Ohio and Indiana, finding arrowheads was commonplace, I just have never heard of finding them in California or any other western state.
