It may be something farm related. I was installing solar panels in an old farm field and there were literally thousands of pieces just like that laying all over. I was thinking something related to packaging/crating produce. I wish i had saved one but they were about4-6 inches long and looked just like what you have.

Or, some terrible dentures.

Wow, knowing that sparks my interest even more. The tone for them wasn't an annoying tone, that is why I dug up three; I thought it was going to be a coin. After three of them, I moved to the other side of the road; if I found out they had some historical value I could always go back and dig up a few more.

Thank you for sharing your information with me,
Cindy

When I saw them the first thing I thought also was some kind of welding bead. Were you near a farm?

I am on a ranch with over 900 Acres, most of it is woods and trails. There were a few homesteads here in the 1800's, a gin, a saw mill, and I am not sure what else. I found these pieces away from any building, but I don't know what was there in the past.
Thanks for replying and sharing your thoughts.
