Re: Crusader...1 Silver,! old bucke l ?

Nice Silver & buckle looks quite old... Nice Specimen

Thanks for the challange but your got me stumped on this. Never seen one with what looks like a bar at the back for a strap & then a bar in the middle as well. Quite unusual & I don't recall it in my books.

I'll pass it on to some of our researchers on-line :dontknow:

(I guess its early 1700s)

Thanks Crusader.

Yes, it did have a bar in the middle.

I'll take your educated guess, as opposed to my "pure" guess, based only on the deep olive green patina, and a gut feeling.

:hello:

It's a Double loop asymmetrical buckle with raised strap bar, some had two prongs, yours looks like it had one, used as a strap adjuster. The Date range is quite wide for this type of Buckle..1575-1700 I think yours would be at the latter end of this time period :icon_thumleft:

good info, very early for Canada & a sweet find :hello2:

Thanks SS.

Really appreciate the time frame, and the knowledge.
I do like the unusual, the different, like my avitar.
Not always about the dollar amount, more about the history, EH ?

This piece has now become somewhat special to me, even though it aint worth s$$t.

Thanks guys. Hope I can return the favor some day.

If you ever get a stupid Nova Scotia question, (though unlikely) might be able to help you out.

Like an Elephant, I'll never forget, Thanks Verry Much

Rick

That silver looks to be in nice shape Rick . . . is that a quarter or a dime?

Sorry, it is a dime 1959

Nice find Rick. I found a very early buckle a few years back and it has become a definite favorite find.
