Here are a few rather crude but obvious tools I have gathered lately. Any one know exactly what they are?

Sorry sir, but I'm only seeing rocks here, no sign of any artifact...............

not obvious to me ether
all i see is rocks and quartz
no tools.

The quartz was so hard to work with they usually broke them in pieces by smashing them together and then using the pieces to make into tools. They then would shape the pieces as needed. A professor at a college told me this. Those look natural to me. Go back to that spot and look for broken pieces and study the brokes then look for thinning pieces. Follow that trail! I did want to say, here in Tnet they do have a rock page. I just posted some there and asked if my rocks were natural shape. They will know cause if I am not sure on a find I dont want to put it here until further knowledge is known. Just a thought

That was the reaction I was hoping for. The pics don't show much work at all. Their is hardly any work. A notch crudely knocked out on both big pieces, and battered tips. My big question is when are tools too close to their natural state to pick up? Remember, human nature makes all of us cut corners when they can be cut. That is the question I have been needing an answer to for years. Does it have to be flaked or polished to be acknowledged as an artifact? Thanks guys!

That is the only way to prove that these rocks have been used by man. If the rock has no use wear by shaping then we will have to guess they have never been used by man. But if I was in a hurry and in a strange place and saw a rabbit sitting there and I was hungry.......well then yeah I would hit him in the head with that rock and then proceed to cook him. But seeing there is no wear on it then it is not an artifact. Wear can be a # of things. If the rocks were piled in a shape out of the ordinary and it was documented as such then they would be artifacts. Good Luck

Look at it this way, your picture taking skills are getting better........:laughing7:

well rusty my friend
i just see rocks also

Ok! I'll swallow my pride on this one! Funny you said that about the pans, I just posted a thread on where to get display frames. Lol. Thanks for eyeballing it for me Larson. At least you don't bang your head at me like others do. Thanks once again!

Ignore the head banging, it is just an icon, your reading too much into it.

I know. But, it's still rude! I'll try to let it pass. Heck , I'll try not to post any more questionable things. But obvious stuff all the time gets boring. I need to work on my photography. I think I'd get better feed back with better pics. That is an art in itself. Thanks for listening to me.

I leave alot of crude but obvious artifacts. That's just me. A few good examples then that's it. I left two shell pendants behind yesterday because I have many less beat up examples.

Man shell pendants! Left behind! Are you feeling ok gator?

Ha ha ..yeah I'm good but I figure why take everything away when I'm not going to think its that great compared to others I have. I could probably gather alot of things for trade to folks who don't have the same items. I don't hunt a plowed feild or anything like that. These Items will still be there in twenty years.

Without being crude, its obvious those rock samples are just that, rocks...
