CRUDE but it works GREAT. Lots of Clad ( if you want pics let me know )

I built this tumbler the other day. It's CRUDE looking but it works Great...
I used a small variable speed motor ( 110 volt reduced to 12 volts ) Attached spider vibration coupling to a 2 1/2 gal plastic pale so I
can disconnect them quickly. I then put a metal 2 gal pale inside the plastic pale. The result is a 2 gal pale size tumbler.
I have tumbling media that I used and man did it clean the coins.

1/2 the pile of coins shown were tumbled.
They are ready for the bank.
I am throwing in about 400 wheat pennies from the 40's and 50's ( let the public have fun with finding them )

I cleaned a lot of my clad coins about 1 1/2 hours of time. I'm turning in only the nickels, dimes and pennies. The Quarters are
for POKER.

and i have drawings of the same contraption
did i tell you about it
toss a couple of old roller blade wheels on the corners of the board so your bucket dont wear out

I have that same exact aluminium ice tray. I had thought about getting a tumbuler polisher for polishing jewelry a while back to use for polishing shell caseings from when i was doing a lot of shooting. I used to sell them on ebay, not much for them but did take some of the bite out of the range fee. I have been to busy lately to go shooting. I hadn't ever thought about polishing coins with one, but thats pretty cool.

That is in the makings to do some modifications. I have some bigger rollers but thought they were too big. Gotta look around for smaller ones some where in one of the 100 drawers I have. I only have 2 hours into making it.

I like it. Big amounts of clad require a big tumbler. I have already done about 10 loads with my clad and stilling working on it. :P Time to design my own tumbler!

Looks like it does a good job...
Last time I played poker I used my dis-colored quarters, you could look at everyones stack and tell right away which ones were mine...

I use tumbling media that I got last year from a truck driver of a Metal Deburring Company. My last job had a big cement mixer type tumbler and I use to use that but since I don't work there I had to build one, so thats where the idea come from. I am going to do a little modifying to it but not much. I think if I come across a stainless steel pot or big soup pot I will add that to it.

I'm sure glad that I gave some of you an idea on how to make one. If you want I will take some other pictures and email them to you if you want.
