Hello all, I would appreciate some help in identifying this object . It is about 2 and 1/2 inches long and only has markings on one side. It looks to me like it may have been some sort of wire splice that may have been used in the telegraph industry. Just a guess. It's a Victorian era picture rail hook (hanger).

The other day I spent several hours looking at pictures and after not finding anything even close, I gave up.
That, (picture rail hook ), was not an item I had thought of. Nice call.
