I did some research and found a old farm and two cellar hole sites that was a super long hike in the woods. It turned out looking great but then found when I started detecting that it must have been a party and hunting spot for many years because it was completely littered with modern trash and bulletin shells. I ran out of time so couldn't dig out the crap that was for sure blocking some good finds. The good news is that there are four other pre 1865 farms sites to find in the area and at least one should be off the beaten trail and not trashy as hell. I have a 1865 map and the first two were spot on so I have high hopes. I did manage to pull out a crotal bell and possibly a copper buckle?
when I went away from the main area to a stone wall nearby so at least I didn't come back empty handed. Also got a musket ball and mushroomed three ringer bullet but didn't bother taking pictures of them.

The copper thing was bent already when I dug it and has decorative designs. Hard to tell from the picture. Any ideas what it is exactly?

Good finds. Hope you can get the time to go back and clear out some of the trash. After Abe's finds, I imagine it's hard having patience on a site. I plan on finding that out today and the next couple even though the Arctic blast is on it's way for me on Friday, lol.

oh boohoo, what was that you said about furry underwear yesterday lol

And yes it's a suspenders clip

Nice going on the bell and the suspender clip, good luck at the other sites in the area and hope the modern trash is less. Any hunting now is a bonus as the ol' man is knocking at the door in many areas.

Thanks. One thing nice about living right on the coast here near Peggy's cove NS is I usually get to hunt right through the winter. I find it hard to get a lot of time for far day hunts but I get loads of hour or two hunts in but I'm stuck to nearby spots a lot. It drives me crazy because I have so many untouched spots to do but they are so far away for me to get to them with my time.
